Rawa Blues – The Family Festival
Amenities for parents with children, art workshops, menu with dishes dedicated to children - during this year Rawa Blues Festival, the organizers ensure that whole families have a good time at the festival.
Traditionally, during the Saturday concert in Katowice "Spodek" alcohol won't be sold. - On Rawa Blues Festival we are interested in music, not stimulants - emphasizes Irek Dudek, the creator and director of the festival.
There will be the special gate in the venue, where parents will be able to leave the festival to take the children home and then return to the next concerts of Rawa Blues stars. Something special for kids will also be available on the festival's restaurant menu. What's more: children under 12 years old have admission for free.
"The Off Stage" starts at 11.00 sharp. The talented Polish blues artists will have a chance to present their skills. It's the kind of contest and its winner will also play on the main stage of "Spodek". But on Saturday, blues fans can expect not only musical attractions. Before the gig of the first band, at 9.00 o'clock the great meeting of motorcyclists is planned at the car park in front of the hall, then they ride through the center of Katowice.
On the mezzanine of “Spodek”, blues fans will be able to see an exhibition of paintings of Danuta Matysik titled "Pictures from The Journey”. It covers such different landscapes as flat fields and cotton plantations in the Mississippi Delta and Louisiana, legendary southern towns like Clarksdale, vibrant Memphis club, and metropolitan style of southern and western Chicago.
Another attraction connected with the art will be workshops for children, hosted by Anna Bieronska, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts.
The 38 the edition of the Festival begins on Thursday with the guitar clinic hosted by Tinsley Ellis. The main star of the Friday's concert at NOSPR will be Marcia Ball - a pianist and vocalist, four times nominated for Grammy, a multiple laureate of the Blues Music Awards. Her concert will be preceded by the performance of the acoustic Martin Harley duo - Daniel Kimbro, specializing in blues classics.
The biggest star of the Saturday concert at "Spodek" will be Robert Cray - one of the most outstanding contemporary blues artists, a five-time Grammy Awards winner who recorded and performed with the icons of blues and rock'n'roll. Another stars of the final concert are: French guitarist and vocalist Laura Cox, the above-mentioned Tinsley Ellis and Irek Dudek, who will present himself in a big-band incarnation.
