Altered Five Blues Band

Altered Five burns, smoulders and ignites like a sip of good whisky. The trendy quintet from Milwaukee is famous for its mix of strong, original blues and phenomenal live performances. Blues Blast raves about frontman Jeff Taylor, who possesses a "smooth, warm voice, as monumental and undeniable as Howlin’ Wolf with the panache of B.B. King." Downbeat declares that guitarist Jeff Schroedl, "sets a high bar by mixing inventiveness and fluidity." The five blues blasters hit the ground running 20 years ago and show no signs of slowing down. Their sixth studio album, Holler If You Hear Me, debuted at number three on the Billboard Blues Chart and received three nominations for the Blues Music Award, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year.

The new record is strong, just like the three previous, multiple award-winning ones. Cryin' Mercy was hailed as the "Best Self-Produced Album" at the International Blues Challenge in 2015. Guitar World magazine called the title track "a menacing, swampy blues." In 2019, Ten Thousand Watts reached the 10th place on the Billboard Blues Chart and took 1st place on both the iTunes and Amazon blues charts.

Altered Five consistently ticked all the boxes, creating a lasting, deeply expressive original blues for the mind and body.

Whether live or on records, Altered Five functions seamlessly as a powerful unit, embracing timeless blues virtues of passion and unwavering commitment derived from technical excellence. - Dave Rubin
